A cell engineering company
ExtraCell Biotechnologies re-programs the gene expression of mammalian producer cells to dramatically increase viral titer, helping gene- and cell-therapy developers make more vector per batch and cut the cost per dose.

The technology
Producer cells spend resources on the wrong genes. By down-regulating specific genes inside the cell (the basis of our patent WO2021165484), ExtraCell redirects that capacity toward making virus, lifting titer without changing your upstream process.
Drawing on knowledge of the secretory cell machinery, we pinpoint the gene-regulation bottlenecks limiting viral production.
Targeted, calibrated genetic modification re-balances the cell toward high-yield vector output: it's about the right level of regulation, not just the right gene.
Your team runs the same transfection and process, and harvests significantly more functional vector per batch.
Validated experimental data
In triple-plasmid AAV2 production, our engineered HEK293 cells out-produce the parental line head-to-head. Higher titer means fewer batches and a lower cost per dose. In gene therapy, where COGS can run into the millions per patient, that can roughly halve the manufacturing cost per patient.
